Equipment

  • medium bowl
  • large sealable container or zipped-top bag
  • skillet

Ingredients

Marinade

  • cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce preferably reduced sodium
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger minced (optional)

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb medium uncooked shrimp peeled & deveined
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • chopped green onion for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Steps

  • Whisk the honey, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger together in a medium bowl. You will use half for the marinade and half for cooking the shrimp.
  • Place shrimp in a large sealable container or zipped-top bag. Pour ½ of the marinade over top, give it a shake or stir, then marinate in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Place shrimp in the skillet (discard used marinade). Cook shrimp until pink, about 45 seconds per side.
  • Pour in remaining marinade and cook until shrimp is cooked through, about 1-2 more minutes.
  • Serve shrimp with cooked marinade sauce and garnish with green onion.

Notes

Some readers add 1 teaspoon cornstarch to thicken the sauce before cooking. Use fresh shrimp but thaw frozen shrimp before marinating.
